Reception Summer 2

Coming soon...

After our trip to Eureka, we are learning all about water. In our Maths sessions we have been learning all about Capacity and using lots of language related to this. We have made predictions about how much different sized bottles can hold and evaluated if we were right or wrong. In the water tray we have used different equipment to make bottles half full and full.

We looked at the uses of water in our daily lives and why it is a hugely important thing for people, plants and animals. We also learnt about some places that don't have access to clean water and thought about necessary and luxury uses of water. We wrote down our feelings and thoughts on some water droplets, have a look below!

In RE, we have been learning about special places for different cultures and religions. During one session we learnt about how church is a special place for many Christians and looked at the features of a church. We then designed and created our own stained glass windows. They looked really good!

We now have Reading Buddies from Year 6. We show them how good we are at reading and they ask us questions about what we have read. We really enjoyed mixing with the Year 6's! We think they were impressed with our reading skills!

We decided to make our Sports Day a little different this year and changed it into the Olympics. We learnt lots of different facts about the Olympics and then decided which teams we would like to have in our own. We sang an Olympic song for our parents and grandparents and then demonstrated our excellent skills in running, skipping and throwing!

We have continued to learn about the different ways water is used in Religion. We learnt about how special the river Ganges is for Hindu's in India. We now know it is a necessity for daily life for many people who live there but it is also a place where huge celebrations are held for the Goddess who created it. We created our own celebration scenes using different forms of media.
